BERLIN – German authorities have arrested a man suspected of sexually abusing two children and posting thousands of images and videos of his crimes online.
The arrest early Tuesday came less than a day after federal police published photos of the suspect and called for the public's help in identifying him.
Frankfurt prosecutors said the 45-year-old, whose name wasn't released, was arrested at a hotel in the western city of Krefeld. Police tracked him down there after searching his apartment in nearby Viersen and seizing evidence.
The man is suspected of sexually abusing at least two boys, aged about 7 and 10, in Germany since October 2014. Prosecutors say the material was posted in December 2017 on a pedophile platform on the darknet — part of the internet accessible only with identity-shielding software.
