Palestinians in the Gaza Strip reportedly celebrated the killing of four worshippers in a Jerusalem synagogue on Tuesday by handing out candy and displaying posters of the suspects.
In Rafah, revelers brandished axes and praised the two men -- Ghassan and Oday Abu Jamal -- who killed three Americans and a Briton with meat cleavers and a gun before being shot dead by police, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Palestinian radio reports also described the attackers as “martyrs” while loudspeakers at mosques throughout Gaza offered congratulations.
Online, Hamas-affiliated social media circulated violent and anti-Semitic cartoons praising the attack.
One showed images of terrorists, wielding knives and axes in a room of slaughtered Jews lying in pools of blood, according to the Jerusalem Post.
On Facebook, the Hamas-affiliated Shebab News Agency called the attack a “heroic Jerusalem operation” and posted letters of support.
