BAGHDAD – Iraqi officials say a suicide bomber has struck Shiite pilgrims passing through a Sunni neighborhood in Baghdad, pushing the day's death toll from attacks in Iraq to 27.
Police say the Baghdad attack happened Sunday afternoon in the northern neighborhood of Waziriyah. They say 12 were killed and 23 wounded.
Hospital officials confirmed the casualties. Officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to brief reporters.
The attack follows a double suicide bombing earlier in the day in a Shiite village in northern Iraq that left 15 dead, many of them children killed when a car bomb struck their school.
