The Latest on a fiery semitrailer crash on I-94 in Wisconsin (all times local):

4:55 p.m.

Wisconsin authorities say the drivers of two semitrailers are dead after one hit a construction barrier on an interstate and caused a chain reaction that caused explosions and set fire to other vehicles.

Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling says the first semitrailer was southbound on Interstate 94 Wednesday at about 11 a.m. when it hit the barrier, overcorrected and crashed onto a median that separated northbound traffic in southeastern Wisconsin.

That caused three cars to crash. Another semitrailer traveling northbound went into a ditch while trying to avoid hitting those vehicles. Both trailers burst into flames and set other cars on fire.

Schmaling says two people in the cars suffered serious injuries and a third was unharmed.

No names have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
