- Hello Fox News! I wanted to share with you some photos of our family supporting my wife and I as we eagerly waited for our first child, Gracie Sage DuBois to be born! She made her arrival at 1:04AM on May 19, 2020. Our family showed up to the Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, CO on May 18, 2020 at roughly 3:00PM for the anticipation of her arrival. Due to COVID-19, they were not allowed in the hospital, therefore they setup their ‘tail-gate’ directly across from our second level room on the top level of the parking garage. This act of support, was truly a moral booster for my wife and I. The entirety of the pregnancy was not an “easy” one for several health reasons. So when COVID-19 came to the U.S., and swept through every State and City, it certainly did not make things easier - knowing our support would not be able to be with us during this monumental moment! However, they came through BIG TIME. I found myself looking over at their setup every 10 minutes or so, giving me a big ole smile. During there several hours of tailgating, they gathered all the chalk they could find around town and wrote everything they wanted to say to us and Gracie on the parking garage precast concrete. I am so thankful for their support during these crazy, unexpected times. And it will make a really special story I will tell to our little girl one day! Thank you, David DuBoisread more

- My son, Wyatt Kirby, is a senior at Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA in Southern Chester County. He has been fortunate enough to still be able to see his girlfriend,Morgan Malchionne, a junior at Avon Grove High School, through this quarantined time. I decided to throw them a prom in our garage to change the monotony of the days and bring some much needed smiles and normalcy to their lives and to celebrate them. Wyatt wrote her an invitation and she accepted to attend on Saturday, May 9th at 3:30 for their quarantined prom where memories will be made to last them a lifetime. Wyatt picked her up in his dad's 1987, waxed and polished, Chevrolet truck for the night of their lives. The garage was set up for a night of fun and romance with my husband and I serving them mozzarella stick appetizers, a main course meal of enchiladas, corn and refried beans, and ended with cake and klondike bars for dessert. A photo booth compiled of old halloween wigs and hats was set up and that seemed to be the highlight of the night. A dance floor was created in the 1st bay of the garage with Christmas tree lights on the floor and more lights hung from the ceiling for a romantic, calming atmosphere. There was a small ceremony to the theme of "Rocky" playing, announcing the Prom King and Queen, complete with homemade medals. Wyatt & Morgan danced the night away, slow and fast, until 11:00 at night. My husband, Brian, and I were thrilled that they were out in the garage for almost 8 hours, enjoying their youth in a way that all our youth deserves, if just for one night. We honestly thought they'd be done with their quarantined prom within a couple of hours. Wyatt and Morgan were more than appreciative and Brian and I felt privileged to be able to create this night for them. It's a time to find the silver linings and to make lemonade out of lemons and to spread as much love as we can in these horrifically scary and devastatingly sad times. Thank you, read more

I am extremely proud to send in this story on an incredible company, joeveo.com, giving away metal nose strips for the price of shipping to all DIY mask makers around the world. These strips are made by hand. I am volunteering with the owner, Dean Verhoeven. He had a friend who had a mask on and air was coming up and wasn’t protecting her. Dean, being an engineer, thought how he could make it better. They start out in the scrap bin at one of our local electric co-ops. The large electric feeder cables are then stripped of insulation in the individual strands or unraveled and then rolled flat the flat strip is cut to length then a needle to make them easy to form to the shape of one’s nose. He teaches our three grandchildren about perseverance, honesty, loyalty, helping others and heroes...real heroes. - Hi, With so much uncertainty going on in our world today there is one thing we are certain about…the wonderful young volunteers of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards who are making a difference now more than ever. Jorja Boller of Beatrice, Nebraska is one of the 2019 State Honorees of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and has continued on her volunteer efforts offer the years. Horsing Around at Nursing Homes is how Jorja, her little sister and their pony, Peanut is helping to bring smiles to the faces of elderly people living in nursing homes in Nebraska. The “team of three” has been making “socially distant visits” at three nursing homes in her hometown by going window-to-window to keep lonely nursing home residents company. Jorja's charity “Gifts for Grands” usually focuses on weekly volunteering at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society in her town, so she decided that she needed to come up with something creative to do at this time. Last week she planted some flowers in the courtyard of the nursing home, but wanted to do something even bigger. So she decided to take her pony into town and surprise everyone there. The residents were all thrilled, but it was the Memory Care residents who received the biggest benefit and “couldn't get enough” of Little Peanut. Jorja is now developing an official program that would feature Peanut as a therapy horse, providing residents with an opportunity to snuggle with him and give treats to Little Peanut. - Dear Editor, Thank you for considering my piece Searching for a Hug During COVID-19 (copied below) for your America Together segment on Foxnews.com. It’s a heartwarming and uplifting story that informs of the unique challenges mentally disabled adults and their families face coping with COVID-19. Enter Bill Sturdivant: a 65-year old social butterfly who loves flirting, hugging, and baseball, but hates Nancy Pelosi. He’s also mentally disabled and, to his horror, finds himself in a world where hugs are banned, and he’s a boomeranger forced back home and into quarantine with his 85-year old mother. When a neighbor refuses Bill’s hug, siting social distancing, Bill loses it. His reaction—an epic meltdown—provides the world a solution to the coronavirus madness. March down the middle of the street, stomp your feet, wave your fists wildly in the air while screaming, “Dumb virus! I hate this! Phooey!” That evening Bill declares when this is over, we need a “National Hug Day.” I agree with Bill and can’t wait to hug him again. I am Bill’s sister and President of CAS Supporting Living Services that helps mentally disabled adults to live independently and have maximum control over their lives Thank you for your consideration. I hope to hear from you. Sincerely, read more

In Las Vegas, a community-wide partnership called Delivering with Dignity launched as an emergency response to help the area’s most vulnerable and isolated residents during the unprecedented healthcare and economic crisis created by the coronavirus pandemic. In just one month, through partnerships among nonprofits, independently owned restaurants and private corporations, Delivering with Dignity has delivered more than 18,000 individual meals to residents in need, kept dozens of restaurant staff employed and expanded to support community facilities, including domestic abuse and homeless shelters. At a time when national news is predominantly disconcerting and negative, Delivering with Dignity offers a positive story of hope and connectivity. It showcases how a community is coming together to help each other.read more

- An 18-year old pre-vet college student has taken charge over a grim situation during this time and has turned it into something positive. During this time we have been seeing a large boom in the amount of animals needing homes. More and more pets / farm animals are being dumped and even when COVID is over many still will not be able to keep animals due to the effect having lost their job has put on their ability to pay for their animals care. Tiffany Bellissimo has decided to start a farm animal sanctuary on her family's farm, Lilymoore Farm, in order to help all these animals in need of a home. Dreaming of a Chance Farm Animal Sanctuary looks to help take in these animals in need of a home as well as rescue and rehabilitate many more animals in need. Many people have been focusing on household pets but farm animals unfortunately haven't been on a lot of people's radar. Many farmers and backyard poultry owners have had difficulty being able to care for their animals anymore so Dreaming of a Chance is here to help. Tiffany has created a safe place for animals in need. She is mostly focusing on poultry right now until she can gain enough support to be able to expand into helping large farm animals as well.read more

One month ago we began seeing our patients in their own cars to reduce risk on their part. - I want to share our beautiful wedding story with you. We were supposed to get married with 250 guests around us in our home parish. We planned on a beautiful reception at a vineyard in Maryland. God had other plans for us, we were able to get a marriage license and have a beautiful ceremony in our living room with our priest outside the window and our photographer out a side window. We Facebook lived the whole thing and 900 plus family members, friends and strangers were able to join us in witnessing hope and love in this pandemic. We want to share our story to show how God’s plan is more beautiful than we know. There is beauty in these ashes. Thank you, Lacie and Christian Winkleread more

- Dear Fox News, "Victory Garden" project started by my daughter-in-law, Helen Pugh, through her work at the Eisennhower Foundation in Abilene, Kansas. It involved many community partners, volunteers, educators, parents and children. Donated garden supplies were picked up by families and accompanying lesson plans distributed to teachers. This is very special for many reasons, including the connection with the World War Victory Garden efforts, saving the food supplies for our soldiers. Today, parents and teachers are searching for healthy, productive, educational ideas for the children and students.read more
- Thought this might be a great human interest – happy – story and picture from 9 year old! Below is Reilly Doherty a 3rd grade student in Auburn, MA about 45 minutes west of Boston. Reilly greatly misses her teachers, school and her friends. She also participates in soccer and cheerleading which she totally enjoys. She’s not the type of child to sit and play computer games all day so she decided she wanted to do something to spread a safety message to her family and friends. Her dad taped out the blocks in her driveway, she used chalk to patiently color each block, Removed the tape and then wrote the message. Perhaps I’m prejudiced since she is my granddaughter but I think it’s a splendid work from Such a young girl and it sends a heartfelt message showing how this pandemic has affected not just adults but children too. I hope you will find some way to use this brief story. If you have any questions or would Like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me – I would love to hear from Fox. - My name is Brenda Johnson. Early April, I asked my aunt if she could assist in making some masks. I told her I’d buy supplies, if she could sew. She made around 300. The special part of this story is that she works in a nursing home in a dementia unit. The unit is a wing that is separated from all other patients. My two aunts are CNA’s in that unit. She took the material and supplies with her and had some patients to help. The patient in the picture is Ms Barbara. She worked very hard. - Hello, I know you have done some stories about local people making masks. But I haven't seen a story about using a 3D printer to make respirators or these little straps that relieve the pressure off of your ears when wearing the surgical style masks. Now the story… Concordia University Wisconsin put out a call for schools with 3D printers to start making respirator masks to donate to Children's Hospital and other Wisconsin medical organizations. I asked the principal at Good Shepherd Lutheran School if I was allowed to take the 3D printers home and start production, she replied with an overwhelming "YES". So we converted our laundry room into making these masks along with ear strain relief straps for people that are wearing the surgical style mask. It's a whole family affair with keeping these 3D printers printing 24/7 to produce as much as possible. (End of the story) I'm going to be dropping these masks off on Friday at Concordia University Wisconsin and then will be going to local businesses to drop off more of the ear strain relief straps. Let me know if you want to make a story out of this in case you want a better picture of all the masks and straps. - This is my wife, soulmate and the light at the end of my day. Her name is Heather Parks and I love her so. She is a medic for our local ambulance service (Community) here on Macon GA. She is selfless and it brings her great joy to help those through her job that are going through some of the scariest times with their health. I know and have come to terms with her going to work everyday and being exposed to who knows what and I support her in every way, because I know that she loves her job and enjoys helping people. When the COVID-19 started to hit our area hard my concern for her safety grew as the hospital and a ambulance services became overwhelmed. The first time she had to transport a COVOD-19 patient and I seen her in full hazmat gear my heart dropped. I fell to my knees and asked the Lord to protect her (which he does). I asked her if she wanted to quit so that she wouldn’t be exposed and she said “no honey this is what I signed up for and these people need help, we must be there for them”. Since then she has transported several more patients at their time of greatest need.I know that they are receiving the greatest compassion and care possible from not only my wife but all of her partners, nurses doctors and first responders here in our area. - ust wanted to share some uplifting news this Friday afternoon April 17, 2020. We could all use some positive news during these challenging times. Our volunteer public 501c3 charity, Heart & Hammer, which was started by our family, did a community outreach today in Chester, NJ. https://www.heartandhammer.org Though much of our focus is helping the poor in the Philippines, often in conjunction with medical missions, we also have been doing outreach programs here in US, too. Today, we made meals and Covid-19 care packages for the forty (40) residents of Chester Area Senior Housing. It is our way to show we care. https://chesterareaseniorhousing.org The Covid-19 Care packages were a donation by one of our Directors, Stacey Moratta. Each package included a surgical face mask, vinyl gloves, sterile wipes, seat pad, eye mask, and even new earbuds for cell phone or audio devices. These were originally made for air travelers but can be used at home too. The meal was a dinner set consisting of a Filipino soup called Arroz Caldo (a chicken, ginger & rice porridge) used to fight colds & flu. For the main course, residents received a meal of Parmesan-crusted Chicken cutlets, Pineapple-baked ham, chilled mixed bean salad, boiled asparagus and a homemade Ghirardelli brownie for desert. And let's not forget some Lindt chocolate as a sweet treat. This is the second time Heart & Hammer reached out to the Chester Area Senior Housing. Heart & Hammer was there back in 2016 when a flood affected their recreational center. We brought food, music and dancing to lift spirits and to show we cared. https://www.heartandhammer.org/programs Attached are some pics from today's event where we prepared the meals and packages. Due to the nature of safe protection & social distancing, Heart & Hammer just dropped off the gifts. No one entered the building. Working together we will get through these challenging times. We just wanted our seniors to know someone cares.read more

- Elaine Palance and Sarah Pennington have their company Saralaine Designs and for some time now they have been sewing unique dog scarves. Elaine Palance is legendary actor Jack Palance’s widow and career seamstress. Just recently people have been asking Elaine and Sarah Pennington to make masks that would have a filter compartment for the best safety and that looked prettier or more handsome that the hospital masks - for the general public. Their masks have a slot where the user can add any filter material – then after use - remove the filter, wash/dry the mask, add a new filter and ready for the next time someone needs to go to a store or is essential at a company. It was very easy to shift gears from the dog bandanas to making scarves that can save lives as well as look nice. Sarah and Elaine are working night and day presently. - 7th grader makes masks for those in need after learning to sew in home ec class at school My niece, Tessa Sadoski is your typical 12-year-old girl from the small farming town of Randolph, WI. The school requires 7th grade students to take family and consumer economics, where they learn cooking and sewing. While in this class over the winter, my niece took to a sewing machine for the first time. Not much thought was given to the newly acquired skill until the COVID-19 pandemic. Tessa's dad, Ben, has a genetic heart condition that makes him high risk. My sister, (Tessa's mom) Cori, mentioned to Tessa that they should make masks for their family and others in need. Tessa was on board immediately. She went out to the family farm, where she asked her grandmother, who is in her 80's, if she could use her sewing machine. However, when Tessa and her grandmother went to retrieve the machine, they found it no longer worked. So my sister bought a new machine and after finding a video on YouTube on how to make masks, Tessa started stitching away. She started by making masks for family members. As word got out that Tessa was making masks, others that were vulnerable in the community of 1800 asked Tessa if she would be willing to make them a mask. Tessa happily obliged. While several people had offered to pay her, she refused to accept any money. In the past three weeks she has made masks for seniors, nurses, and people that were more vulnerable to the virus. The whole family, including Tessa's older brother Jack, have helped with cutting fabric and elastic and the delivery of the masks. Cori manages several post offices in southern Wisconsin. With the postal service having a difficult time obtaining masks for workers, Cori has now started stitching too, making masks with Tessa for the employees of the offices she manages. Between Cori and Tessa they have made over 300 masks in the past couple of weeks, with about 450 more to go to cover the postal workers. After that, theread more

- St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Jasper, Alabama has operated a food bank for years, and we are one of the largest food banks in Walker, County. When the order was announced that schools were to be closed, the Walker Area Community Foundation organized a program to help feed the children who would normally be fed at school and others who would be impacted by this emergency. We set up distribution points across the county to provide hot meals and to distribute groceries to children and adults. Raising Arrows, a non-profit that provides meals to school children, prepared about 2,000 hot meals each day. St. Mary’s handled the distribution of groceries. In a two week period, we bagged and distributed over 8,000 bags of groceries. This is approximately the volume we handle in a year. St. Mary’s turned the Parish hall into a food warehouse and bagging facility. When we ran out of room to store bags, we used the church. This is the result, pews of grocery bags ready to be sent to distribution points across the county. There are numerous groups participating in this effort: churches, non-profits and others. There have been hundreds of volunteers, and many more who have donated to this effort to help our friends and neighbors. It has been a blessing to all of us. Food pantries across the country have been there every day, distributing food to people in need, and they will continue to be a source for food and assistance. I cannot say enough about the people at Feeding Alabama and Feeding America who make this possible. Mike McClendon St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Food Bank Jasper, Alabamaread more

- Recently, a post circulated on facebook from a nurse asking those on who sew for headbands with buttons. Now that nurses are wearing masks all day, the elastic is rubbing behind their ears causing irritation. All they needed was simple fabric headbands with two buttons. I remembered that Spartan, the company that puts on the obstacle races, gives out fabric headbands to each of their participants. So I reached out to see if they had any they could donate. In a heartbeat, Spartan overnighted a shipment of headbands. Having headbands already made cut down on time and resources. All we needed to do was add two buttons. Using NextDoor.com people in my neighborhood of Dallas donated buttons and/or sewed on buttons. We had over 100 of these headbands ready to go in 48hrs. We were able to take packages to multiple hospitals all around the Dallas Fort Worth area, and the workers there were incredibly grateful. I just want to send a big public thanks to the Spartan Race executives for their generous donation, and to my neighbors for jumping at the chance to help. We are living through some tough times right now, but it is great to truly see Americans working together to help one another. Thanks Danielle Neumeyer-Betzread more

- My name is Nancy Zuccarelli and I work for a hospital in Bergen county New Jersey. My coworkers and I are proud to help in any way that we can however we now find ourselves in a predicament. We are desperately worried that if we go home to our family members every night, we may possibly infect them by accident. With that, we've been looking for hotels with empty rooms to either donate to us or at least severely discount, so that at least we're safety tucked away during this troubling time. It's too late for me however. I already work on a CoVid-19 unit, therefore I had to find something immediately to protect my elderly parents I live with. The Meadowlands Extended Stay hotel in Rutherford, New Jersey wouldn't budge so I was forced to pay their non-refundable full price rate for two weeks. Unfortunately, I'll be here for an unknown amount of time and it looks like this stay is going to really be expensive. It's really disappointing that no hotels have offered any help in my area and that news stations won't help me get the word out that so many of us are in immediate need. Would you please help me (us) with this? [You have a video on FB messenger that I submitted (per Fox's request) as well.] Thank you and God bless. 💖 Nancy Z.read more

- I can one day tell you my bizarre and unique coronavirus story but for now have to focus on my recovery. I want to do my part to spread the positivity in America though and to reduce the anxiety and fear so please see my attached pictures and feel free to put them on your website. I want people to know how grateful I am to the people who helped me continue to get through this but also let everyone know we can recover and move forward. The story behind this picture is a little bit funny because since we are still not allowed to go out to very many places I had to work with what we had around the house so I used the back of leftover an unused Christmas wrapping—Elsa and Paw Patrol-/to make these banners. - Along with the shutdown of most of the country, many community homeless services have, for the most part, been shut down too. The Shower & Laundry Ministry in Fullerton, CA was able to proved modified services on Saturday April 4th. This is a great example of "America Together" - giving of oneself to those have almost nothing. Masks, gloves, sanitizer, taped social distancing lines and 18 dedicated volunteers provided a boxed meal, water bottles, quarters and laundry pods, underwear, Bombas donated socks, and plastic bags to protect their belongings against the expected SoCal rains. The turnout was about 2X (80+) of what we normally have - a sign of the times due to diminished homeless service opportunities. My wife, Marsha, coordinates this small ministry with a great group of volunteers that reach across many of the local area churches. Funded by donations only, they are able to scrape by each month with a very tight budget and volunteer donated items like food, hygiene items, and clothing. This ministry normally provides a shower trailer, laundry service (guests drop off the clothes and volunteers wash and fold), a warm meal, clothes, hygiene items, and, most of all, compassion given by volunteers who provide a loving dose of conversation and humanity. An opportunity for the guests to just be 'normal' and safe for a few hours twice a month. A couple of her volunteers started out as guests, have escaped the streets, and now give back to those who remain homeless. With the closing of libraries, community centers, parks, indoor fast food restaurants, grocery store restrooms, and gyms - the hard life of being homeless has gotten exponentially harder. The stresses have grown and it shows in their eyes and on their faces. The appreciation given back by the guests is evident in the smiles and many heartfelt 'thank you so much' being offered.read more

- Scott Beels, aka Bumper Morgan, radio personality/sweeper voice for over 40 years (WBLS, Y107 Nashville) was diagnosed with Bulbar onset ALS in July 2019. By November his voice was completely silenced by this terminal disease without a cure. We have been self-isolating since the beginning of March 2020. Friends and family have been leaving supplies at our front door to keep us from getting coronavirus. Over the weekend, our kids came to deliver tissues and food. They could only visit their father, with potentially only months to live, through the sliding doors. Picture attached. Scott's time is limited and we will eventualy have to decide if we can keep him safe enough to spend quality time together. ALS is not taking a break. His disease is progressing. We are fortunate to be close to Massachusetts General Hospital and the Healey Center for ALS where the 3 year phase 3 clinical trial for NurOwn is almost complete. Scott got the last spot at MGH in the 200 person nationwide 1:1 trial. It's his only hope, and a 50/50 (placebo/drug) hope at that. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the trial is in jeopardy. Scott received the first of three stem cell injections February 20th after 6 months of lead-in preparation. Now, his second injection scheduled for April 15th (when Boston is supposed to peak) and even the final on June 10th will most likely be cancelled. We fear the trial will be prematurely concluded and he will not receive the additional injections. Resulting in him dying before Nurown gets approved by the antiquated FDA approval process and then covered by insurance companies. He doesn't have time. This story needs to be told. We hope President Trump hears our personal story and, just like he advocated for treatments for the coronavirus, issues an executive order for Nurown or urges the FDA to approve it now, so my husband, and other people with ALS that are dying too, can receive this promising drug before it is too late. - My friends granddaughter, Olivia Hautala, was diagnosed at age 4, with a stage 3 WIMS tumor in August of 2015. Over the past 4+ years, Olivia has been through the removal of her kidney, countless chemo treatments, clinical trials and most recently approved for use of a drug that has never before been tried on a child. She is now 9 years old and has fought this battle through sickness from the treatment, through the ups and downs of good reports and then difficult news. She has been an amazing trouper demonstrating the courage, perseverance and invincible spirit of those often much older than her years. When losing her hair to chemo…she refused to wear a hat to school even though it would have saved the curious looks and questions from strangers and friends. She became so familiar with the treatments, she even “helped” the nursing staff when they struggled to remember the official names of her chemo drugs. Trips to the ER with fevers became a frequent occurrence, and Olivia never let it slow her down. At the beginning of March Olivia was in the hospital with a fever and pneumonia. Within 2 days of being released from the hospital she was attending a Karate Competition where she was to compete. She did compete in one event, but skipped the more strenuous portion. Over the past couple of years she has excelled at Karate and recently progressed to an advanced level…further proof of her fighting spirit. On March 24th Olivia was back in the hospital with complications. On March 27th she was sent home with palliative care. All of this occurred as the Coronavirus was ramping up, and on the same day that the Minnesota Governor had designated that the State would implement a Stay at Home order as of midnight on that day. Schools had already been shut down, families were at home preparing for home schooling, businesses were shut down and many people were working at home. Life had drastically begun to change. - My name is Amber Peterson from McAllen, TX. I wanted to share a feel good story that happened to me last week down here in Southern Texas. My boyfriend, Jason, and I had a trip planned last week to the Grand Canyon that was unfortunately cancelled due to the virus. We are both federal law enforcement agents with varying schedules, which limits our time together on a daily basis. Needless to say we were really looking forward to this time together and enjoy the amazing national park. Jason seemed even more disappointed than me that our trip was cancelled, which was fairly surprising since he’s normally a very go with the flow kind of guy. Little did I know he had something special planned during our trip. So last Wednesday, the day we were to arrive at the Grand Canyon, I went over to his house for dinner. To my surprise he was all dressed up and walked me to his backyard where he had set up tables, candles, lighting and a huge wall art canvas of the Grand Canyon! He had got curbside pickup for Texas Roadhouse and a tiramisu from our favorite local Italian restaurant Colletti’s in Harlingen, TX. If the special dinner and decorations were not enough to boost my spirits, he asked me to Marry Him!!!! I said YES!!! I was beyond surprised and overjoyed that during a time of such confusion and stress we could escape the reality of the world around us and celebrate our love. His original plan was to propose at the Grand Canyon of course, but he had to adjust. As a law enforcement agent he has spent years adapting and overcoming challenging situations and this was no different. He found a way to bring the Grand Canyon to us and make it even more memorable!!! We are looking forward to making that trip a reality at some point to see it’s majestic beauty in person, but until then we have one very large picture to remind us of our dream and future together!!! I hope our story of interrupted plans and making the best out of a bad situation, all while making time forread more

- My wife Tanya has Lupus, so she is at higher risk, she really wanted to help others during the crisis and she wasn’t sure what to do until she heard that the local Joann’s was giving out free kits for making masks. We bought a sewing machine and after a few trial and error masks, she got the hang of it and she’s now producing masks and giving them to those in need. This week, she has donated masks to family, friends, local medical offices, and some first responders. In return, we’ve received fabric, thread, fresh eggs and of course lots of heartfelt appreciation. I’m pretty proud of her and thankful to be sharing this story with you. - With Debbie my wife we are on long term assignment in Guatemala to work with children and their families. Although the rate of confirmed COVID-19 infections here is relatively mild, the rate of those under feed is extremely high. Some government statistics say that 50% of the children suffer from under nourishment. We fear more will from hunger than the virus because of the economic shut down. Families were on the edge before the virus hit. Now it’s pushing some over the edge. With the help of a church based program called Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC), we purchased basic food and hygiene supplies for about 40 families, most who live in a red zone in Guatemala City. It’s called a red zone because of the high level of violence, gangs, drugs, abuse and poverty. We wept because what we were able to provide was too little for too few. Those who received the gift of supplies wept because it bought them a little hope for a couple more weeks. - Our social daughter, Sydney, celebrated her 15th Bday yesterday and obviously we couldn’t host a bday part or grant her one bday request - to go to Universal Studios. But what did her friends do? They surprised her with a Birthday, drive-by celebration parade! They met down the street at 7pm and many decorated their cars or made banners and had balloons hanging out their windows. They slowly paraded up and down the street and the celebratory cheers and car horns brought the neighbors out as well. Two neighbors stopped by today and said they were so moved (even to tears) over the way her friends showed their love from a distance. Sydney was surprised and overwhelmed with joy. We handed out cupcakes to the cars and they all leaned out of their windows to loudly sing Happy Birthday which was followed by a grand finale of cheering and honking! - Dear Fox news staff, Here is my front line nursing staff at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, WA. Our unit was an acute care med/surgical floor specializing in respiratory care, but early last month we were turned into the COVID floor. - As you know the Coronavirus has brought much of the world to a halt including mine. In the past month my business (Automobile Dealership) has dropped by 95%. After consulting with several medical professionals I have determined that there is no safe or effective way to decontaminate each vehicle after test drive with 100% certainty. I could no longer with a clear conscience create an environment that promotes high risk situations such as test drives and document signing. I have decided to temporarily close for the well-being of our clients, staff, family and community. I have been spending most of my days sewing homemade masks made from outgrown toddler clothes, These masks are then donated to the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and the homeless. Each mask is washed, heated to 165 degrees for 30 minutes and sealed in a single use bag before distribution. Homemade masks are obviously less effective then N95 masks, but in a time of crisis, something is better than nothing... This also helps to pass the time in lockdown and helps my community. - I wanted to share in hopes that it inspires others that are in the same boat. And maybe to bring a smile. :) My daughter, Grayson, is a high school senior. Her school's prom was cancelled, as has so many of her other school/church, etc. activities. We all more than understand the why behind the cancellations, but the disappointment is still there. Knowing there is only so much within our control (our attitude being one of those things), we decided very last minute to throw our own "Prom on the Porch" for her. She's taken all the cancellations in stride, and we just wanted to do a little something special for her. We used what we had around the house to decorate the porch, and a friend let us use some stars she had and cut some letters with her Cricut, and voila! Her siblings were there (one of which is home from college early because of the virus), my husband and I, and a cousin and uncle who are at our house frequently. Family only - 7 people total outside the whole time. It wasn't the prom with her friends she thought she'd have, but she had SO👏 MUCH 👏 FUN👏!!! We all did! The kids dressed up, we cranked up a speaker, and spent 2 or 3 hrs on our porch. Not surprisingly, my senior won prom queen! ❤️😄 Lemonade outta lemons. :) So this spring may not be going according to plan, but we try to adapt and celebrate our seniors the best we can. 🥰read more
