Police on Monday were crediting a dog in New Jersey with saving its owner by breaking glass and barking for help -- just as two women were talking by.
The dog's owner had suffered some kind of medical emergency which left her unconscious inside her home in Northvale for days, NJ.com reported.
As two other women walked near the home Friday, the dog barked and barked, ultimately smashing a glass pane with its paws, getting their attention, Northvale Police Chief William Essmann said.
The women called police, who soon entered the home and found the owner.
Doctors were treating the owner in the intensive care unit of a hospital nearby, police added. Essman said the dog's paw was hurt, but not too badly.
Officers also thanked the two women who spotted the broken glass and heard the dog's cries.
