Confusing reports on just what happened to the Russian MetroJet Airbus A321 plane that crashed in Egypt’s Sinai desert. A Russian officials seemed to suggest the plane lost speed before crashing, but he also said the crew was immediately incapacitated and that the plane could only have crashed a result of a mechanical impact on the plane in the air. It’s unclear exactly what that means. The black boxes have been recovered, so we should get a better idea shortly. All 224 people on board were killed. An ISIS-affiliated group has claimed responsibility, but Russian officials had been downplaying that possibility. Most airlines are now avoiding the air space were the crash occurred. NTSB officials may have found the final resting place of the El Faro cargo ship that went down during a storm. The ship is sitting upright in 15,000 feet of water near where the El Faro was last heard from. 33 people were onboard and died in the incident.
