NEW YORK – Authorities say four people, including a toddler, have been slashed or stabbed on a bike path near the Hudson River in New York City.
Police say a suspect is in custody.
Police say all of the victims are expected to survive, though a woman in her 30s is in critical condition. The youngest victim is about 2 years old.
Police are investigating whether there may have been a fifth victim.
The assault happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday in Manhattan's Riverside Park between West 60th and 65th streets.
Witnesses said they heard an argument, then screaming and a child crying. Police soon arrived and grabbed the attacker.
Yellow police tape and park department security guards later prevented anyone from gaining access to the path for a 20-block stretch.
