RENO, Nev. – State wildlife officials are trying to capture a mother bear and two cubs at Lake Tahoe that apparently have broken into the garage of a condominium at Incline Village twice the past week.
Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy says they've set traps to try to capture the bears. He says the trio broke into the garage on Palmer Court last week. They returned to the scene on Thursday but had left by the time agency officials responded to the report.
Healy tells the Reno Gazette-Journal some local residents are trying to foil efforts to catch the bears.
A Facebook page targeting the mistreatment of bears is urging people to volunteer to stay in the area, "ideally with dogs," to frighten the bears away and prevent their capture.
