CULLMAN, Ala. – Telephoned bomb threats forced the evacuation of three hospitals in north Alabama overnight, and police say an escaped prisoner may have made the call.
Cullman police say a man called 911 about 9 p.m. Sunday and claimed bombs were in three hospitals. Authorities say he claimed the bombs would all go off at once.
That threat led to evacuations at Cullman Regional Medical Center and Marshall Medical Center hospitals in Boaz and Guntersville.
Teams searched all three hospitals and found nothing. Patients were able to return to their rooms about 90 minutes after the call came through.
The Cullman Times reports that a man who escaped from Arab police about 30 minutes before the threat is considered a possible suspect.
The man was arrested early Monday near Holly Pond.
