SAN MATEO, California – Police say a San Mateo high school swimming coach is in custody on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female student.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Aragon High School water polo and swim coach Joshua David Tatro was arrested Friday and faces multiple charges including sexual assault on a minor and committing lewd acts with a minor for allegedly touching the girl inappropriately.
The 25-year-old Tatro of El Granada had been working as coach at the school for a year.
Lt. Ted Gonzales says Tatro allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim on more than one occasion. Police say they were notified after the alleged victim told school officials about the incidents.
Tatro is being held in the San Mateo County Jail on $25,000 bail.
