NEW YORK – Just in time to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, a Brooklyn restaurant is offering a recreation of a 10-course meal served to first class passengers on the ill-fated ship.
Black tie is preferred for the April 15 dinner at Prime Meats, which will cost $115 per person, not including tax or gratuity.
And the menu? Come hungry -- in fact, starving might be better.
It includes oysters, consomme, scallops with beef consomme, filet mignon, carpaccio with arugula, shaved artichoke, truffle, grated madeira cured foie gras, roast duckling with apple sauce, lamb with mint sauce, roast squab, cold asparagus vinaigrette, pate de foie gras with celery and Waldorf pudding.
Prime Meats, which describes itself on its website as "a farm to table restaurant," promises "an elegant evening of dinner and revelry."
The Titanic hit an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912, killing more than 1,500 passengers and crewmembers.
