INDIANAPOLIS – A toddler died after being found submerged in a baptismal font at an Indianapolis church, The Indianapolis Star reported.
Employees told police that they found the child under water in the two-feet deep baptismal pool at the Praise Fellowship Assembly of God church, northwestern Indianapolis, on Wednesday afternoon, according to the newspaper.
The boy, identified as Juan Cardenas, was taken to the St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, where he died, police said.
Juan attended a daycare center at the church, Indianapolis police spokesman Kendale Adams said.
It is believed he drowned, although an official cause of death has not yet been released.
The Marion County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy on the body Thursday morning.
