Fontana, Calif. – Two youths were arrested after shooting at a television news crew with BB guns as they filmed a live weather cross in Fontana, Calif., Saturday night, police said in a statement provided to Fox News.
Police said KABC-TV reporter Leanne Suter was taken to a hospital after being hit in the hand when two boys, aged 16 and 17, opened fire at the station's van about 6:15pm local time. Police said the pair were likely to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Arnold Kleiner, KABC-TV's president and general manager, said in a statement provided to Fox News that the network was cooperating with the police investigation.
"Our crews and reporters are very conscious of good safety practices and take proper precautions when on assignment," he said.
"They could not have anticipated that someone would decide to target them in this way.
"We are grateful no one was seriously hurt and we are fully cooperating with police in their investigation."
Fontana is a city in San Bernardino County, located in southeast California. KABC-TV is owned by the American Broadcasting Company.
