A California man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Kmart in an effort to be arrested and reunited with his recently jailed friend.
Early Friday morning, South Lake Tahoe police responded to a report of smashed front doors at the store and found the 19-year-old man hiding near the rear of the business, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
A police statement said the man’s friend was arrested earlier that night on a DUI suspicion and he was “upset that he was not arrested with his friend.”
He later joined his friend in El Dorado County Jail on suspicion of prowling and attempted burglary.
