A witness has testified that an American Indian Movement activist convicted of killing two FBI agents in South Dakota admitted the crime in front of another group member who was later killed.

Darlene "Kamook" Ecoffey says she and Annie Mae Aquash heard Leonard Peltier say in the fall of 1975 that he shot one of the two agents even though the agent was begging for his life.

Aquash disappeared a few months after Peltier allegedly made the statement. Authorities believe three AIM activists killed her because AIM leaders thought she was a government spy.

AIM member John Graham has been accused of shooting Aquash and is on trial in Rapid City.

A judge ruled last week that Ecoffey couldn't testify about Peltier's comment, but he reversed his decision Monday morning.
