Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Go On the Record

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: It is time for the Osbournes. We went to Los Angeles, California, and dropped in on Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Ozzy gave us an inside look at his upcoming CD "Scream." It is going to be released this Tuesday.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VAN SUSTEREN: The new book, which has been out for a while. Ozzy, I learned a lot of new things about you. I'm surprised at some of the things that I learned about you.

OZZY OSBOURNE: I didn't put pen to paper. I had a journalist ghostwrite it for me. The last 18 months to two years I've just been doing my work on my record. And then Sharon said why don't you do the book? I usually start writing, do an album, and go on the road again and tour forever.

I thought it was going to be a technique forever. My life has hardly been boring.

VAN SUSTEREN: It has sold like hotcakes.

OZZY OSBOURNE: Sorry?

VAN SUSTEREN: It has sold like hotcakes.

SHARON OSBOURNE: It has done really well.

VAN SUSTEREN: How is the book tour?

OZZY OSBOURNE: Records became obsolete. It is a good way to meet the people who are interested in my life and my work. It's a lot of fun.

VAN SUSTEREN: Many of the things that I read new in the book so it is fun for me to read, the first time you met Sharon you had hanging around your neck a faucet?

OZZY OSBOURNE: Yes, a hot water tap.

(LAUGHTER)

It was 1971, she looks at me like -- (inaudible)

VAN SUSTEREN: What did you think when you saw him with the hot water faucet?

SHARON OSBOURNE: I didn't know what to think. I just thought he's, you know, crazy. I had never seen anyone with a hot water tap around their neck.

OZZY OSBOURNE: She was crazier than me.

SHARON OSBOURNE: I was crazy, he was normal.

VAN SUSTEREN: When you first spotted him did you fall in love with him or think he's cute or I'm glad I'm not with that guy?

SHARON OSBOURNE: I was scared, I didn't know what to think. I was not really looking his way because I was a bit nervous and embarrassed. And it took probably over the period of nine years our paths would cross.

OZZY OSBOURNE: We would see each other in airports. She was getting on one plane on I was getting on another.

VAN SUSTEREN: I think some people have the idea that rock stars don't have marriages that last. Your marriage, I'm sure it has ups and downs like everybody else. Your marriage has been dramatic, we learn a lot about it and your family.

But in some it is like your family is, I don't know if the word "normal" is right, but you love your kids, your kids love you. You have a nice home. Your marriage has endured. As colorful as it is, it is rather --

SHARON OSBOURNE: Yes we are a very colorful family. Everybody knows our mistakes. But I think that people can relate to all of our mistakes and all or good and bad points.

And I think too that we taught our children well. We've taught our children certain morals that a lot of people -- and you would think it is funny coming from us because we are outrageous larger than life people, but I think our kids have really good morals put in them. You are not going to see my kids -- any of my kids doing sex tapes.

VAN SUSTEREN: If they do, what are you going to do?

SHARON OSBOURNE: I would be heartbroken. That would really, really break my heart.

VAN SUSTEREN: How often do you talk to your kids?

SHARON OSBOURNE: About 10 times a day. I drive them crazy.

OZZY OSBOURNE: She really is the mother-in-law from hell.

VAN SUSTEREN: How about you?

OZZY OSBOURNE: I try -- she says calm down Ozzy. The way I look at it, for many years -- (inaudible) I was in a mental state, meaning either drugs or alcohol, I couldn't make decisions. She had to be the husband and the mother.

VAN SUSTEREN: What is the best career-decision you ever made?

SHARON OSBOURNE: I think to do "The Osbournes." Ozzy saw half the first show and said this is going to destroy us all, get it stopped, you have to do whatever you can to get it stopped. It's the worst thing. It's the most embarrassing.

OZZY OSBOURNE: I must confess I'm not the television person in the family. I don't like doing it. I just don't like doing TV.

VAN SUSTEREN: How about -- was one of the most bizarre social events the White House correspondents' dinner?

SHARON OSBOURNE: We still talk about it today. Kelly was going to the one this year and cover it for "E," but she said after what I heard happened to you guys, she said I would never live up to it, so I don't want to do it.

VAN SUSTEREN: What I remember was so odd I was only at Fox two months, I didn't know anybody. There was our table, which was really insane.

I looked over at my colleague Tony Snow, and he was sitting there, and he all these military sitting very erect with all these medals, and I thought, they are going to throw me out of Fox, because our tame was so nuts. I was nuts.

SHARON OSBOURNE: It was nuts wasn't it?

VAN SUSTEREN: It was fun, though.

SHARON OSBOURNE: It was one of those nights that you will never, ever forget.

OZZY OSBOURNE: The distinguished guest tonight Mr. Ozzy Osbourne.

VAN SUSTEREN: Great book, it is fun. And you know, it has been selling like hotcakes. Thank you both.

SHARON OSBOURNE: Thank you. We are going to do a movie.

VAN SUSTEREN: You didn't tell me, they are doing a movie on it? Who is playing you?

OZZY OSBOURNE: Denzel Washington.

(LAUGHTER)

VAN SUSTEREN: Is that your choice?

SHARON OSBOURNE: He says that because he knows I love him. I've got the hots for him. I love Denzel.

VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know him?

SHARON OSBOURNE: No, I don't.

VAN SUSTEREN: Maybe if you give him a shout out, he will call.

(LAUGHTER)

SHARON OSBOURNE: Yes, doing a movie.

VAN SUSTEREN: A movie will be fun, especially if Denzel Washington plays you.

SHARON OSBOURNE: I hope so.

VAN SUSTEREN: At the premiere you get to meet him.

SHARON OSBOURNE: I would be like --

VAN SUSTEREN: Great, thank you.

OZZY OSBOURNE: Thank you.

SHARON OSBOURNE: Thank you.
