Palm Beach officials say a helicopter crashed west of Delray Beach during a training flight, injuring one of two people aboard.

About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a student pilot and a flight instructor from Lantana-based PBC Helicopter School were flying at about 3,500 when the student pilot noticed something wrong with the small Robinson 22 helicopter.

Palm Beach Sheriff's officials say the instructor took control and put the chopper down hard, clipping some palm trees and coming to rest on its side.

The instructor was taken to a local hospital; the student wasn't injured. Neither flyer's name was immediately made public.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
