LONDON – With her red velvet hooded cape, Cybill Shepherd (search) could have been Little Red Riding Hood.
During an interview on Britain's GMTV Tuesday morning the actress, who once appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine, explained that she had worn the cape to hide her "jetlag hair."
"Sorry about the cape, but I didn't have time to do my hair," she explained to bemused host Fiona Phillips (search).
"If you'd like a laugh I'll take it off in a bit but it's a little scary. I bought this cape last year and thought, 'Someday I'm going to wear this every day of my life'. So far I've been in London for two days and I've worn it every day."
When Phillips joked "Well, we're pleased you made an effort this morning," Shepherd, 52, apologized and told her: "I don't mean to be disrespectful. Would you like to see my jetlag hair?"
The actress removed the cape to reveal her blonde hair tied up in a top knot. Loosening her tresses, she laughed, "Would you like me to brush it now?"
Shepherd is in Britain to promote her one-woman cabaret show, "Cybill Disobedience," (search) which opens in London next week.
The actress said she hoped to make a film version of "Moonlighting," the hit 80s TV show in which she starred opposite Bruce Willis (search).
The pair fell out while filming the TV show but Shepherd said they are now friends.
"When people get a tremendous amount of success, especially for the first time, it doesn't necessarily bring out the best in them," she said. "We get on fine now. I adore Bruce and we're dying to do a Moonlighting movie."
