Walt Disney World, coined “The Most Magical Place on Earth” is the home of four theme parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, based off characters and stories created by Disney in Orlando, Florida.
Disney World is also filled with hotels, restaurants, the Disney Springs shopping center and two waterparks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
Disney World opened after Disneyland was created in Anaheim, California in 1955. The idea for the California and Florida locations were started by Walt Disney, who died on December 15, 1966, several years before the park was finished and opened to the public on October 1, 1971.
Over the years since Disney World's original opening, it has grown larger in size and now spreads across over 25,000 acres of land. People from all over the world buy tickets to visit Disney World every year, making it one of today’s most popular tourist attractions. Each park is filled with different attractions, restaurants and shows, including nighttime firework and light shows.
Magic Kingdom is the most popular park of the four and is divided into six different sections: Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Some popular rides that can be found in Magic Kingdom are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise and Space Mountain. Magic Kingdom is also where Cinderella’s Castle is located.
Epcot is a futuristic park that is made up of four different sections: World Nature, World Discovery, World Celebration and World Showcase. Epcot is all about technology with rides showing the evolution and innovation that has happened over the years. This park also allows guests to explore different countries with its world showcase. Some of this parks popular attractions are the new Guardians of the Galaxy-Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure rides. Soarin,’ Spaceship Earth, Test Track and Frozen Ever After are also popular attractions.
Animal Kingdom is home to the Tree of Life and many real-life animals that can be seen on the safari. The park is split into six different sections: Oasis, Discovery Island, Pandora-The World of Avatar, Africa, Asia and Dinoland U.S.A. Expedition Everest, Avatar: Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Dinosaur are all popular rides at Animal Kingdom.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios park is all about the movies. There are lots of different sections in this park, including Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Echo Lake, Animation Courtyard, Commissary Lane, Grand Avenue, Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Hollywood Studios is the backdrop to some of Disney’s best and busiest rides such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, The Tower of Terror, Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run.
