Nicole Kidman is an American-born actress and producer known for her leading roles in several award-winning films and television productions for the last three decades. Kidman's longtime career and growing list of accolades as made her one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. Moreover, she is also an Australian citizen, and many of her break-out films in the 1980s occurred while filming in that country. Kidman has received six Golden Globe Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, an Academy Award, and a British Academy Film Award. In addition, she has received several nominations during her career. Kidman started acting in Australia during the early 1980s but did not receive recognition for her acting performances in films until 1989 for the movie "Dead Calm."
For the next decade, Kidman continued building a name for herself on the big screen with leading roles in 1992's "Far and Away," 1995's "Batman Forever," "To Die For," and Stanley Kubrick's last film in 1999, "Eyes Wide Shut." However, Kidman did not start receiving academy recognition for her film until later in her career with the nomination for the 2001 musical "Moulin Rouge," 2010's "Rabbit Hole," 2016's "Lion," and "Being the Ricardos" in 2021.
Her television career is also filled with numerous Emmy Awards and leading performances such as 2012's "Hemingway & Gellhorn," "Big Little Lies," "Top of the Lake: China Girl," "The Undoing," and "Perfect Strangers." She received an Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Limited Series Emmy Award as an executive producer and actress on "Big Little Lies."
Kidman is also the owner and founder of her own production company called Blossom Films. From 1990 to 2001, Kidman was married to fellow actor Tom Cruise. The couple adopted a daughter and a son while married together. In 2006, Kidman married her current husband, country music star Keith Urban. The couple has two daughters.
