MLB

Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization consisting of 30 teams, divided between the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). It is the highest level of professional baseball in North America and one of the major sports leagues in the United States and Canada.

The AL is broken into three divisions: East, Central and West. Teams include the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers.

The NL is also broken into three divisions: East, Central and West. The NL includes the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington National, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.

MLB’s regular season typically runs from spring to early fall, with teams playing 162 games. The postseason includes the Wild Card Series, Division Series, League Championship Series and the World Series, where the AL and NL champions compete for the championship.

The league has a long history, dating back to the late 19th century, and has seen changes in rules, team expansions and player milestones over the years. It has remained a central part of professional sports, with a strong fan base and significant media coverage.

Beyond the game, MLB is involved in business partnerships, broadcasting agreements and community initiatives. It continues to be a major presence in sports, with an ongoing impact on baseball at both the professional and youth levels.
