Lexington, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Ally Malott had 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in Dayton's 78-66 victory over Iowa State in the first round of the women's NCAA Tournament on Friday.
Andrea Hoover added 20 points and six rebounds for the seventh-seeded Flyers (26-6), who are making their sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Saicha Grant-Allen and Kelley Austria tallied 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Dayton will next face second-seeded Kentucky in Sunday's second round.
Nikki Moody ended with 17 points and five assists for the 10th-seeded Cyclones (18-13), who made their ninth consecutive trip to the tournament. Seanna Johnson had 12 points and Nicole Blaskowsky and Brynn Williamson each contributed 11 points.
Dayton ended the first half on an 11-3 run for a 42-34 lead at halftime. The Flyers led by as many as 17 in the second half.
