Estado de Mexico, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Oscar David Alvarez closed with a 3-under 69 on Sunday and he held on for a 1-shot win at the TransAmerican Power Products CRV Abierto Mexicano.
Alvarez finished at 17-under-par 271. This was his first victory on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica.
The Colombian opened with a birdie on the first. Alvarez traded a bogey for a birdie from the third. He followed a birdie on the sixth with a bogey at the seventh.
Alvarez converted his fourth birdie of the day at the par-5 eighth. He again gave that right back as he bogeyed No. 9. Around the turn, Alvarez carded back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12 to move to minus-17. He closed out the victory with six consecutive pars.
Nelson Ledesma stumbled to a bogey on the 17th. He parred the last to close a round of 5-under 67, which left him one stroke back at minus-16.
Brad Hopfinger (65) and Alexandre Rocha (67) shared third place at 14-under 274. Jose de Jesus Rodriguez shot 5-under 67 in the final round. He was joined in fifth place at minus-12 by Brady Schnell (69) and third-round leader Chris Gilman.
