Liverpool, England – Liverpool bolstered its defense on Monday by signing Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain and Tiago Llori from Sporting Lisbon for a combined fee believed to be around 25 million pounds.
After losing Glen Johnson to an injury in the victory over Manchester United on Sunday as well as Aly Cissokho and Kolo Toure during the week, the Reds needed to add to the depth along the back line.
Sakho, 23, progressed through PSG's youth academy and made his first-team debut in 2007 before going on to make 201 appearances for the capital club.
"I'm delighted to be here. I'd like to thank everyone for the welcome," Sakho told Liverpool's official website after passing his medical."I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I'm really looking forward to playing my first game."
Llori, meanwhile, makes the switch to Anfield for around seven million pounds and has represented Portugal at the Under-18, Under-19, and Under-21 levels.
"It feels great being a Liverpool player, coming to the Premier League has always been a dream for me," Llori said. "I'm going to try and achieve everything I can. I want to play as much as possible and we'll see what the future holds. I will give my all and try my best to help the team."
Additionally, the club had completed a season-long loan deal for Chelsea forward Victor Moses.
"First and foremost, I'm delighted to have made the loan from Chelsea to a big club like Liverpool," Moses said. "The most important thing is for me to be professional about it and I'm here to do a job for the club."
