ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Wide receivers Greg Orton and Quincy McDuffie were waived/injured Sunday as the Denver Broncos got a jump start on the first round of cuts by waiving 11 players.
Orton spent the past two seasons on Denver's practice squad. The former Purdue player was having a good training camp and had a shot at making the roster when he sprained an ankle during the team's stadium scrimmage on Aug. 3 and never returned to action.
McDuffie hoped to challenge for a spot as a returner, but the speedster from Central Florida was hampered by a troublesome hamstring.
The Broncos must make two more cuts by Tuesday's deadline to trim rosters to 75.
