Denver, CO – The Miami Marlins reinstated infielders Emilio Bonifacio and Donnie Murphy from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.
Bonifacio, who has been on the shelf since Aug. 4 due to a sprained left thumb, is hitting .261 this season with 30 stolen bases in 61 games for Miami.
The 29-year-old Murphy has also been sidelined since Aug. 4 with a left hamstring injury. In 67 at-bats, Murphy hit .194 with three home runs and eight RBI.
The make room for the infielders, the Marlins optioned outfielder Scott Cousins to Triple-A New Orleans and designated infielder Gil Velazquez for assignment.
Cousins hit just .167 in 78 at-bats with Miami this season while Velazquez went 1-for-8 with the Marlins this season.
