STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – A Penn State spokesman says a decision on the fate of a statue of late football coach Joe Paterno will be made within days.
Critics have called for the statue to be taken down in light of a report concluding Paterno and other top university officials concealed information about sex abuse allegations against a former assistant coach to avoid bad publicity.
Penn State spokesman David La Torre said Tuesday a decision on the matter is seven to 10 days away.
A small plane has pulled a banner mentioning the statue over State College, where Penn State is based. The banner read, "Take the statue down or we will."
Paterno's family denies he tried to cover anything up.
