Three-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick and fellow American Ryan Harrison were among Wednesday's second-round winners at the Aegon International, a final Wimbledon tuneup event.

Still seeking his first title of the year, the sixth-seeded Roddick got past capable Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), while Harrison took out fellow non-seed Yen-Hsun Lu of Taiwan 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) on the grass courts at Devonshire Park. Roddick popped seven aces and did not allow even one break- point chance for Chardy, while Harrison notched six aces and was not broken by Lu on Day 3.

Roddick's quarterfinal opponent on Thursday will be Italian Fabio Fognini, while the 20-year-old Harrison will face Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin.

Meanwhile, reigning Eastbourne champion Andreas Seppi continued his winning ways at this tournament by besting Argentine Carlos Berlocq 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. The Italian Seppi, seeded third this week, upset Serb Janko Tipsarevic in last year's finale.

In other action involving seeds, Seppi's fellow countryman Fognini derailed No. 4 Bernard Tomic of Australia 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, Istomin upended No. 2 Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), and No. 7 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany topped British wild card Jamie Baker 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

One other second-round result saw Belgian Steve Darcis outlast Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Thursday's other quarters will pit Seppi against Kohlschreiber and Darcis versus Aussie Marinko Matosevic.

The 2012 Eastbourne titlist will claim $92,000.
