Napoli hammers Cagliari for fifth straight win

Naples, Italy – Napoli moved into the top four after 3 triumph over Cagliari at the San Paolo Stadium.

The hosts jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first 30 minutes as Marek Hamsik opened the scoring after 10 minutes before Paolo Cannavaro headed home Ezequiel Lavezzi's free kick.

Cagliari fell three goals behind on the half-hour mark courtesy of Davide Astori's own goal, while Joaquin Larrivey scored the first of his three goals for Cagliari to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

Lavezzi scored from the penalty spot after drawing a foul inside the area, and Walter Gargano made it 5-1 when he finished off a pass from Edinson Cavani.

Larrivey scored twice in the final 13 minutes for Cagliari with Christian Maggio notching his third goal of the season for Napoli in between.

Inter Milan 2, Chievo 0

Verona, Italy - Inter Milan snapped a seven-game winless streak with a late rally to secure a 2-0 win at Chievo.

Walter Samuel netted his first goal of the season in the 87th minute to break a scoreless tie when he headed home Wesley Sneijder's corner kick.

Inter secured three valuable points as the game entered stoppage time when Javier Zanetti's cross was met a few yards from goal by Diego Milito, who turned it over the goal line from a few yards.

Chievo saw its three-match unbeaten run come to an end, leaving the club in the middle of the table.

The lone match on Saturday in Serie A this weekend takes place at the Renzo Barbera as Palermo hosts Roma. The capital side has lost three of its last four games to fall 10 points back of third-place Lazio, while Palermo has lost its last two contests to drop to ninth.

AC Milan brings a two-point lead at the top of the league into this weekend's home match against relegation-battling Lecce.

Juventus is two points back of the Rossoneri in second place, and despite still being unbeaten, the club has drawn five of its last six games and tries to return to the win column at Genoa.

Lazio has taken hold of third place with three wins in its last four games and the club entertains a Bologna side that has tasted defeat just once in 10 games.

Parma enters its match at Atalanta five points clear of the drop zone, Catania and Fiorentina meet up at the Angelo Massimino Stadium, Cesena's hopes of survival continue to dwindle and the club hosts 17th-place Siena, while last- place Novara faces a tough test at home against fifth-place Udinese.
