The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Tuesday that the contracts of Assistant General Manager Don Boyd and Director of Pro Scouting Bob Strumm will not be renewed for the 2011-12 season.

"We believe it was time to make changes in key areas of our organization as we strive to build a championship-caliber team,” Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson said in a statement. "I want to thank Don and Bob for their hard work and commitment over the past 12 years as each has made very positive contributions."

Boyd joined the Blue Jackets organization as director of amateur scouting in 1999 and also served as director of player development and director of hockey operations and player personnel during his tenure with the club. Strumm served as a pro scout for two years before being named director of pro scouting prior to the 2001-02 season.

Columbus finished last in the Central Division and 13th in the 15-team Western Conference with 81 points. The Blue Jackets have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs just once in their 10 NHL seasons.
