Joe Biden has snapped up a vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., a spokeswoman has confirmed.
The former vice president and his wife, Jill Biden, have expressed a fondness for the Jersey Shore, but it looks like they set their sights a bit further south in the end. They landed on a three-story home at the edge of Cape Henlopen State Park with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
“Throughout our careers, Jill and I have dreamed of being able to buy a place at the beach at home where we can bring the whole family,” Mr. Biden, 74, said in a statement. “We feel very lucky that we’re now able to make that happen and are looking forward to spending time with our family.”
With six bedrooms and various outdoor and indoor entertainment spaces, the beach house gives the Bidens plenty of room to host their brood of grandchildren. The contemporary house has large west- and east-facing porches, a backyard patio and grill station, and a large dining room open to the kitchen, photos from a former listing show.
There are a number of fireplaces and rustic interior details, such as wooden ceiling beams and exposed stone.
Property records do not yet show how much the home sold for, but it was most recently listed for around $3 million. The property last sold in 2007 for $3.258 million, according to property records.
Mr. Biden’s not the only one from the former administration making real estate moves.
The Obamas recently bought the home they’d been renting in the posh Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Kalorama for $8.1 million.
