Abedin to give closed-door deposition to House Benghazi committee Oct. 16

Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Clinton at the State Department and now a member of her presidential campaign team, will provide her closed-door deposition before the House Select Committee on Benghazi on Oct. 16, Fox News has learned.

House Republican leadership formed the special committee to investigate the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans at a U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya, during a Sept. 11, 2012, terror attack.

However, the committee is also investigating Clinton’s use of a private server and email account for official business while secretary of state from 2009 to 2012.

Abedin was a top Clinton assistant during that time, and her name has appeared on some of the emails, including at least one that was purportedly classified.

She will testify when Congress is scheduled to be out of session. Clinton is scheduled to testify before the committee the following week, on Oct. 22.

Abedin is also facing questions about her special status at the State Department that allowed her to work part-time for the agency while also working for the Clinton family foundation and the Teneo consulting firm.
