A Colorado town considering issuing hunting permits for drone aircraft has delayed a special election on the matter.

Deer Trail in eastern Arapahoe County planned to take a vote next Tuesday on whether to issue the permits. The town clerk says that the election has been delayed until Dec. 10 because of a citizen challenge. The election will go on, but the clerk says the vote needs to be delayed.

Supporters of Deer Trail's proposal say it would make the town of 500 people a national attraction for gun enthusiasts and people skeptical of government surveillance. But the proposal has sharply divided the town and drawn a stern warning from the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA says shooting at unmanned aircraft is a crime.
