The owner of an Akron, Ohio, restaurant died Friday shortly after meeting President Obama when he stopped in for breakfast.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the owner had died, and said the president spoke with her daughter Friday afternoon to express his condolences. Carney said the president was honored to meet her, and passed on his thoughts and prayers to the family.
The Akron Beacon Journal first reported that Josephine "Ann" Harris, 70, died of an apparent heart attack just hours after meeting Obama at her restaurant, Ann's Place.
"I'm sure this was her highlight," Harris' sister Frankie Adkins told the newspaper. "She loved Obama."
According to the newspaper, Obama stopped for breakfast at about 8:30 a.m. Harris was pronounced dead at 11:18 a.m.
