Alabama Woman Gives Birth to Sextuplets on Father's Day

Heather and Mitchell Carroll had an eventful Father’s Day on Sunday – Heather gave birth to sextuplets.

Heather Carroll delivered five girls and one boy at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala. More than 50 medical professionals assisted in the delivery.

According to the hospital’s website, the babies’ names are: Abbie, Brooklyn, Chloe, David, Ellie and Faith. They were born at 28 weeks and ranged in weight from 1 pound, 10 ounces to 2 pounds, 5 ounces.

Dr. Bill McKenzie, Carroll’s obstetrician, said she is resting and doing well.

“Heather and Mitchell Carroll were committed to this journey, their family and community were
supportive, and God was faithful,” McKenzie said. “I am so proud of this mother’s toughness
and appreciative for the excellent preparation and care she received at Brookwood Medical
Center.”

Carroll is the second woman to give birth to sextuplets in the United States in June --Stacey Carey of Pennsylvania gave birth to six babies at the beginning of the month.
