A train collided with a semi-truck in Lakeland, Fla., early in the morning on Wednesday and left the roadway littered with food and the air smelling of bacon.
A CSX train was en route from Winter Haven to Jacksonville when it struck a semi-truck that had stalled on the train tracks, FOX 13 reports. The truck driver reportedly got out of the vehicle and attempted to contact CSX to warn them about his presence on the tracks.
However, the train, which was carrying 48 loads of mixed freight, did not receive the message and smashed into the truck, splitting it in half.

The crash resulted in dozens of boxes of frozen food scattered around the roadway. The boxes were filled with meats such as beef, chicken and seafood.
No injuries were reported and the CSX crews and Lakeland police were on site to help clear the roadway. The agencies were able to move the train around 5:45 Wednesday morning, First Coast News reports.
The Colorado Meat and Seafood Company that was expecting the delivery said they no longer wanted to the food, so CSX employees began tossing the scattered packages into a nearby dumpster. While the cleanup progressed, groups of people began to show up and retrieve the thrown away food.
“People are hungry,” Jessie Woulard told Fox 13. “Some people are so hungry they’ll wash it off. Everybody needs something. It’s Christmas.”

The people who showed up might have been lured by the smell in the air.
“I gotta be honest, it smells like bacon,” Fox 13's Alcides Segui commented on the mess.
The authorities allowed people to take the food for at least an hour, until they had to clear the area in order to reopen the tracks.
