Demi Lovato's backup dancer asks fans to stop 'any negativity' after singer's apparent overdose

One of Demi Lovato‘s close friends is urging fans to quit pointing fingers following the singer’s drug overdose last week.

“I care about Demi just like all of you do,” backup dancer Dani Vitale wrote on Instagram on Sunday night. “I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance.

“I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is.”

Some of Lovato’s fans have been lashing out at the choreographer since the 25-year-old was hospitalized last Tuesday after allegedly partying for 12 straight hours to celebrate Vitale’s birthday.

An assistant reportedly found the “Confident” singer unconscious in her bed around 11 a.m. Tuesday and called 911. Narcan — an emergency medicine used to reverse the effects of some drug overdoses — was reportedly administered to Lovato.

Lovato was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama has visited her since she was admitted.

Lovato is expected to go to rehab upon being discharged from the hospital, though sources close to her were reportedly worried that she may not seek treatment after previously rejecting an intervention in the weeks before her overdose.

Insiders also expressed concern that the friends Lovato hung out with leading up to her overdose didn’t have her best interests at heart and enabled her substance abuse, according to People.
