Katie Holmes says that her daughter, Suri, was impacted by the results of the presidential election.

Holmes described Suri’s reaction to President Donald Trump beating Hillary Clinton during a chat with Jenna Bush Hager on Bush Hager’s SirusXM radio show.

“I know I thought Hillary was going to win this year, and it just hurt so badly when she didn’t. And I know that it hurt my child so much as a 10 year old,” Holmes revealed on Tuesday afternoon.

Holmes added that Clinton’s loss caused her to evaluate the progress women have made.

“… It really made me think, ‘Oh we have a long way to go as women.’”

Holmes and Bush Hager discussed their hopes for their young children during the chat.

Holmes said she wants to raise Suri to be strong.

“… We have to raise our girls to be very strong not just for themselves, but to open the doors for other people because as hard as we think we have it, there’s so many women in the world that have it so much harder,” she said. “We need to really be strong and help them and help each other.”
