The singer of a local band was among those killed at Pulse nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning when a gunman opened fire, killing 49 people and wounding 53. Shane Tomlinson, of The Frequency Band, was listed as a victim in the shootings on Monday morning. He was 33.

Tomlinson was the lead vocalist for the band, which performed cover songs at private events and various venues in across Central Florida. According to a tweet from the band, they performed at the Blue Martini Lounge in Orlando at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.

Tomlinson’s friend, a local bartender Zee Renta, told the media Tomlinson was seen in the club early Sunday morning. She was desperately searching for him on Sunday, and she displayed an Instagram photo of Tomlinson to the media in the hopes of getting more information about his whereabouts.

“I need to know he’s alive,” she told the National Post before Tomlinson’s death had been confirmed. “There’s been so many victims already.”

She said she spent the night frantically searching the victims list published by the City of Orlando.

“We kept refreshing that victims list, praying that name is just not on there,” she said. “We were up all night checking that victim list.”

Tomlinson’s friends and fans reacted to the news of his death on social media.

According to the band’s website, their next show was set for June 22 and the Blue Martini Lounge in Tampa. They are booked for other shows and private events through December 31, 2016, according to their website.

The band has yet to comment on the news.
