A contestant from Season 12 of “The Bachelor” was the lone casualty of a Monday afternoon plane crash, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
Erin Storm, 41, was reportedly the woman referred to in news reports on Monday, when a female pilot was killed after crashing shortly after takeoff from Hawthorne Municipal Airport in California, the paper reported, citing Us Weekly.
Storm was piloting the Airborne XT-912 ultralight plane when it crashed into a curb on a street near the airport and caught fire around noon on Monday.
Byron Mayes, an employee of Best Drilling and Pump, Inc., who was working nearby when the plane went down, recalled pulling the unconscious woman from the blazing wreckage: “As soon as the plane hit the curb, it blew up and [the fire] just kept getting bigger and bigger,” he said.
Storm competed in the 2008 edition of the dating reality program, in which Matt Grant of Britain was the man looking for true love. Shayne Lamas was declared the winner at that season’s culmination.
Authorities have not yet officially identified Storm as the pilot.
