Patrick Dempsey sends his condolences after the loss of his “Can’t Buy Me Love” co-star Amanda Peterson.
“In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young,” the 49-year-old actor wrote on Twitter of Peterson, who died on Sunday. “Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda’s family.”
The 43-year-old actress was found dead at her apartment complex, according to the Greeley, Colorado, police department. The investigation is ongoing and there has been no update on the cause of death.
Peterson’s mother, Sylvia, told People she believes her daughter’s death was the result of health issues including sleep apnea.
“She was in bed, and she’d had a wonderful day, and we were planning on a dinner the next day,” she told the magazine on Tuesday. “So it was just a very, very big surprise.”
Dempsey starred alongside Peterson in the 1987 rom-com “Can’t Buy Me Love,” about a nerdy high school boy who pays a popular girl to pretend to be his girlfriend.
