In a candid interview with High Times magazine, marijuana-loving “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg, who suffers from glaucoma, says she only smokes these days for medical purposes.
“I had just been smoking a long time before the glaucoma — and for the fun of it,” she laughs in the magazine’s June issue.
But after she was diagnosed with the eye disorder, “What I did notice was that there were fewer headaches. Didn’t take me long to see there might be a correlation.”
But, she adds, “Almost all my use nowadays is medical.”
She also advocates the use of pediatric medical marijuana for sick children.
“When we talk about marijuana and I hear people say, ‘Well, what about the children?’ Yeah, what about the children?”
She adds of families who have given their children cannabis, “These parents are being treated like criminals — because, as a last resort and after much research, they’ve decided that cannabis may help their kid . . . They know they may face jail time — but these are their kids, and they will do everything they can to bring peace to the convulsions or calm after the chemotherapy.”
