Former NBC News reporter Ned Colt died at 56, NBC reports.
Colt, who reported around the world for the news organization, died in Boston after suffering a massive stroke.
After leaving NBC, Colt worked for the International Rescue Committee and the United Nations office helping refugees.
He joined NBC News' London bureau in 1996 before moving to Asia in 1997 to report from Beijing and Hong Kong. He also helped to cover the Iraq war and was held captive for several days while reporting for NBC.
