It looks like Garth Brooks doesn't have friends in any place in Ireland.

Approximately 400,000 fans of the "Friends in Low Places" singer received disappointing news today when all five shows of Brooks' comeback tour in Ireland were canceled.

"It is with great regret that Aiken Promotions today announce that the five concert Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event at Croke Park has been cancelled," the company organizing the shows announced on their website. "No concerts will take place."

Brooks said last week he would play all "five shows or none at all" in response to the Dublin City Council's threat to cancel two of the five shows after local residents protested the concerts.

Residents opposed the show citing an ordinance stating the venue is prohibited from hosting more than three concerts per year, but Croke Park Director Peter McKenna told the Irish Mirror this was not the first time an exception had been made.

"We had permission for the three One Direction concerts, but you are allowed to apply for a license to run other events," McKenna told the paper. “That’s what we’ve done for Garth Brooks. It’s not the first time, we’ve applied for various different events in the past."

Brooks was originally scheduled to play two shows due to start July 25, and when the number of performances was increased to cope with demand, some residents complained.

The stint had been billed as a "Comeback Special" for the 52-year-old superstar after more than a decade of semi-retirement.
