WINDHAM, Maine -- A watch once owned by Elvis Presley is among the items on sale at a Maine store's annual estate jewelry sale.
The watch is on display through Saturday at Windham Jewelers in Windham. The asking price is $24,000.
A letter written in 1981 by Presley's uncle says the watch -- with a 14-karat gold-framed face -- was given to Presley by the founder of an Elvis fan club when the singer returned to his hometown of Memphis, Tenn., from the military. An engraving on the back reads, "Welcome Home Elvis from the Tankers," and is dated March 7, 1960.
The Portland Press Herald says the watch and other items at the store are owned by an estate jewelry firm in New York.
